More Ideas for Making Money in College

College students are always spending a lot of money, but don’t always consider earning it since they want to focus on their studies and everything else that goes along with the college experience. However, it is possible to be able to mesh them together. Let’s take a look at some more ideas how college students can earn some extra income according to www.collegeinfogeek.com.

Paid Research Opportunities

This may sound scary and creepy, but it’s not the study where you’re hooked up to electrodes and hoping for the best. It could be as simple as filling out surveys or performing basic tasks. You’ll usually find “job posting” around campus listing these types of opportunities.

Test Software

If you have some serious computer skills, you may be able to procure a job with Google being a bug bounty hunter. Google will pay big money (sometimes even tens of thousands of dollars) to people who can find and uncover dangerous bugs and security issues in their apps. https://www.google.com/about/appsecurity/reward-program/

If you don’t quite have the level of skills to be a bug hunter, you can use apps as intended to look uncover standard bugs and even just to give your feedback on new features. You could be paid $20/hour to use the app, answer some questions, or maybe even get on a conference call and discuss them. These aren’t the easiest opportunities to find though, unfortunately. The best approach is to visit the website of apps that you already use to see if they have user testing.

Surveys

Continuing in the same line, you can take surveys to help companies evaluate new products, existing ones, or just to better understand the demographics they serve. Online surveys such as Swagbucks or Survey Monkey can be great resources. The money isn’t huge (maybe just a few cents per survey), but it can add up.

Are you more entrepreneurial in spirit? You have unlimited opportunities to earn money this way.

Sell Parking

Do you have a place close to your university stadium or other highly attended events? If you have parking space available, people will pay to park there. Before attempting to do this, make sure that it’s legal in your city and your landlord is aware and ok with this. Game day can yield a big payload.

Do the Flip

If you are on the handy side, you can make a quick buck with fixing items that have seen better days. Maybe it’s an old bike, car, computers, electronics, etc. This is especially great for items that college students use because they’re looking to save some money and would be open to repair instead of buying a new one.

Sell Things

I’m not talking about getting into sales, but instead, making use of items right at your fingertips. Do you have items sitting around that you’re no longer using? An old phone? Clothing that you no longer wear? There may be money in your very own closet. Do you have a talent for making things? Hair bows, bird houses, coffee tables, and any other item that people might be interested in buying? You can use your own skills to help fund your college experience. Some great places to sell these items are FB marketplace, Mercari, Depop, Etsy, and various other venues.

Help People Move

As long as you know how to handle furniture without damaging it and can lift heavy objects, you can absolutely help people move. It might be helping someone move a single piece (that awkward couch) into their place or as much as moving an entire house in. You can post on FB marketplace and Craig’s List to start. Flyers are also a good choice on college boards. **Mowing lawns, shoveling snow, and other yardwork can also fall here.

Offer Services

Cleaning Houses

As long as you can clean (efficiently), you can clean houses. You could even start your own company. The supplies are reasonably priced and there’s a high demand for this service as long as you’re responsible and thorough. It also offers flexibly hours on your schedule.

Pet Sitting

If you love pets, this may be a perfect gig for you. You get to get paid to love on and take care of animals. You may even get the perk of staying in someone else’s cool house overnight or while they’re away on vacation. Most just need them to be fed and walked for busy times. Easy and enjoyable. You can advertise yourself, but check out Trusted House sitters for more info. https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/

Child Care

A step up from pets is children or even an elderly companion. You can ask around for referrals, but go to www.care.com to get registered with a reputable company.

Sell Your Notes

Do you take great notes in your classes? You have the opportunity to sell them on Study Soup. https://studysoup.com/apply You can upload your notes to a course in exchange for money. Requirements are pretty easy. Take great notes and attend a participating university.

Get Rewards for Eating Out

Seated is an amazing app where you can earn gift cards for eating out at select restaurants. If you’re going out to eat anyway, why not get extra perks and rewards for doing so? You can earn $10-$50 in rewards from Amazon, Starbucks, or Lyft for making a reservation. It is available in only a few major cities. https://www.seatedapp.io/

Sell Plasma

Selling plasma won’t make you rich, but it’s an easy way to make money and is perfectly legitimate. It will take approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours as your blood is drawn from your body. The blood gets filtered to remove red blood cells and other cellular components. The company keeps the plasma and they return it back to your body along with a sterile saline solution.

Sell Sperm or Eggs

You’ve heard about it and even seen it on TV sitcoms. This is definitely a way to make some extra cash. Sperm and eggs are used for research purposes as well as fertility reasons. Egg donations, in particular, can make you tens of thousands of dollars. However, it is a long process where you have to go through may requirements. Sperm donation tends not to be so detailed.

This list is definitely not all inclusive, but hopefully it gives you some ideas of how to make some extra money on the side of attending college. Hey you! It’s not all just for college students either. Many others could benefit from using these items to pick up some extra cash that could be used to pay down bills, sock away money for your children’s college expenses, or even just a fun vacation that you’ve always wanted to take. Have fun with this list!
